-New vocabulary with engaging images and sentence starters

-Over 80 slide suggestions for "Questions du jour" or “Prof du jour"

-Writing or project ideas including two backpack templates and several graphic organizers (beginner and intermediate)

Resource 1 (winter themed with sports, clothing and activities)

Resource 2 (sports themed)

Questions du jour:

Ask daily questions as "prof du jour" or "bell ringers" on the topic of winter, pastimes and sports

Vocabulary:

Sports and activities

Basic clothing

Weather vocabulary

Calendar vocabulary

Present tense verbs

Some use of the conditional

Resource 3: Plan your adventure (similar to resource 4)

This French FSL resource helps to encourage speaking and writing about outdoor sports and activities. There are engaging templates included which focus on planning an outdoor adventure. Students respond orally to each question, as they add on to their “adventure” plan. This “print and go” resource takes the stress out of planning. This could also work as a step by step substitute  plan.

Students enjoy being creative as they add artwork and sentences to their paper bag backpack (templates included as well as other writing options).

Basic Vocabulary:

Outdoor activities

Limited list choices for location and wildlife

Basic personal information (emergency card)

Simple sentence structures (Je veux aller, Je veux manger…)

Helpful with backpack template:

Scissors, glue, tape, colored pencils, printed templates and a paper bag for each student

Resource 4: Plan my adventure beginner to intermediate level

The final resource has several of the same features as the basic 3D paper bag backpack. This resource has more intermediate sentence structure with some editable options. Teachers can change the questions to work with their class. The printable backpack template may also be better suited for older students.

This activity bundle can be done over several classes, by starting your FSL class off each day with a question of the day. Students write a sentence each day to add to the writing templates.

** Please note that the writing and images on this Google slide resource have been flattened and secured to protect my work (therefore not editable). As with every Google slide, buyers can add text boxes to write their own information or insert images.**

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

If you're looking for entertaining French Halloween reading passages and listening comprehension activities that are ready to use, your students will LOVE these spooky (but not too scary) stories that will leave them wanting more! You'll know how to keep your students engaged during the Halloween week with this bundle which includes 5 reading and listening comprehension activities. Take a peek at the preview to see inside!

Stories included:

  • Story 1 - Le Loup
  • Story 2 - L'épouvantail
  • Story 3 - Le repas terrifiant
  • Story 4 - La créature de la nuit
  • Story 5 - Seul

All 5 stories include:

  • 1 Story - 1 page printable, approximately 300 words
  • Vocabulary list - French and English - 1 page printable
  • 10 comprehension questions - 1  page printable
  • Audio recording of the story - Native French speaker

Recommended lesson plan for reading comprehension:

STEP 1:  Distribute the vocabulary list, and read the words aloud having students repeat after you.  All of the words listed are in the story they will read, and many of them may be new.

STEP 2:  Distribute the 10 reading comprehension questions.  Have students read them before reading the story for greater understanding of the information they will need to retain.

STEP 3:  Distribute the 1 page story, and either have students read it silently, or read it together as a class with the teacher calling on individual students to read a passage aloud.

STEP 4:  Students answer ten comprehension questions either in written form as they read silently, or do the exercise orally as a whole class activity once everyone has finished.

Recommended lesson plan for listening comprehension:

STEP 1:  Distribute the vocabulary list, and read the words aloud having students repeat after you.  All of the words listed are in the story they will read, and many of them may be new.

STEP 2:  Distribute the 10 listening comprehension questions.  Have students read them before listening to the story for greater understanding of the information they will need to retain.

STEP 3:  Play the audio recording of the story and have students listen to it  as many times as you see fit.  If you have students who struggle with listening comprehension, distribute the story in written form for them to read along while listening.

STEP 4:  Students answer ten comprehension questions either in written form while listening to the recording, or do the exercise orally as a whole class activity.

French 20 Questions Speaking Games Bundle

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

20 questions games are a fun, effective, NO PREP way to practice forming French questions. Click on individual game links for specific details on each version. This bundle saves you 50%. I will occasionally add new games to this bundle, and the price will increase accordingly, but you will get the new games for free. Follow my store and keep an eye on your TeachShare notifications!

These games work for any level as they are written in French and English. Want a real challenge for your upper levels or immersion students? Use the French only version!

Included with each game:

1 version with vocabulary written in French and English

1 version with vocabulary written in French only

Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the game and use it as a whole class activity.

Many of the words may be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they've played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version.

One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word.

The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT

Alternative game play:

To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.
