Tackle revision and grammar at the same time with these 20 Sentence Combining Scoot Game or Write the Room Task Cards for students in grades 5-8. As students or travel from task card to task card, they try to combine the sentences in at least 2 different ways, allowing them to flex their critical thinking and creativity muscles at the same time. Best of all? There's no right or wrong answer because every writer will put their own spin on the sentence, resulting in voice. At the end, teachers can lead a discussion on the use of punctuation, sentence structures, and writer choices what led to great (and sometimes not so great) sentences.

This resource comes in both color and B&W task cards (4 task cards on a page), task card posters, and a Google Slideshow with all of the task cards. Just in case you want to use this as a whole-group lesson or to discuss answers at the end of the activity. The slideshow also includes a blank task card page and blank task card poster to create your own tasks.
