The Fruit of the Spirit Retreat is a COMPLETE day of activities, lessons, handouts, and games to help students learn about the Fruit of the Spirit. Perfect for a Confirmation Retreat.

The Fruits of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23 are a great lesson that’s easy enough for all students to understand, but still deepen their knowledge and ability to act with those fruits. This is great for any class and would be a perfect Confirmation Retreat for Catholic students.

Galatians 5:22-23 God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled.

The PowerPoint and handouts were created so it can be displayed throughout the entire retreat and guide students (and leaders) through every step of the day. Just print, prepare a few supplies (listed in the PowerPoint), and you’re ready to go! The PowerPoint is fully editable so you can read through the retreat and make adjustments to fit your students. The Goodness Fruit of the Spirit Activities are two activities to focus on Goodness. Students will analyze bible verses from Romans, Genesis, Proverbs, Exodus, Psalms, and 1 Chronicles. They will create a mini-poster and complete a doodle prayer activity.

The Faithfulness Fruit of the Spirit Activities are two activities to focus on Faithfulness. Students will analyze Jesus’ life and his focus on popularity and faithfulness. They will compare Jesus’ example with the way their friends focus on popularity and the effect of positive and negative behavior connects to popularity and faithfulness with their friends.

The Kindness Fruit of the Spirit Activities are two activities to focus on Kindness. Students will analyze the meaning of Gossip, read and summarize bible verses from Proverbs related to Gossip, then evaluate and adjust their definition. Students will also create an Acrostic Poem about kindness.

These Faithfulness in friendship Fruit the Spirit Activities are two activities to focus on Faithfulness. Students will take a self-assessment and analyze their willingness to include others in their circles of friends. They will also write the names of family, friends, teachers, and others adults into a circle of friendship diagram to analyze their boundaries and friendships.

These Joy Fruit the Spirit Activities are two activities to focus on Joy. Students will meet new people and have people sign their ‘BINGO’ sheet if they like certain activities. This will help students get to know others and is a great ice-breaker. Students will also brainstorm something that they are thankful for that starts with each letter of the alphabet. Students will think about the connection between joy and thankfulness.

In Task 1 of each activity students will read an informational text and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.

Students can then complete their student answer key with the four words they revealed before checking with the teacher to see if they have escaped successfully.

▣ Inside the Church Bingo Game - This is a bingo game for the items that you’d see inside the church and used during mass. This bingo game could be used to teach or review items that you’d see at church because they will have to identify and mark an image of the item.

The game is called “MASS” (when players get 4 in a row, they say "MASS" instead of "bingo'), so it is 4x4, which is 16 spaces per game board. There is no “free space”. There is a total of 20 cards and each of them has border that are colors of the liturgical year that you'd see the priest wear on various days/seasons. There are also calling cards that include the image of the item and the name. This bingo game is in full color.

▣ Peter is Freed Game: This is a complete game for Peter being freed from prison. It would be perfect to help teach or review a lesson from Acts 12. A variety of ages/grades could play this game, as well as using it for small groups or whole class at home or in the classroom.

▣ Seek & Find the Creation Game - This is a fun search and find game for the seven days of creation. The kids draw a token and use a magnifying glass to "look and find" the tiny image on the game board. They have a choice of 3 types of tokens. Great for working on several skills, along with differentiating objects.

SUGGESTION: Another option to mounting inside a file folder or print on card stock and laminate to place in a center or for seat work.

▣ The Narrow Door Parable Game - This is a game based on the New Testament parable of The Narrow Door. It's also often referred to as The Open Door or Closed Door parable. It features the narrow door with a view to Heaven. There are question cards to answer to collect and open door or a closed door token. The questions are about the parable, but you're welcome to just use the cards that you want or add your own.
