Human Body Systems Review Game

By Teaching Works

Your grade 4-8 students will beg to play this human body systems review game, and you'll love that while they're having fun, they're also showing what they know about the human body systems! THE perfect activity for review, centers, end-of-the-year games, and sub plans, this science KABOOM! game engages students with human body systems content in a fun and meaningful way!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Save money with the Human Body Systems BUNDLE! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Human Body Systems BUNDLE Includes This Resource Plus:

  • Human Body Systems Webquest Digital Project-Based Learning Activity
  • Human Body Systems Unit (Google Slides with Notes)

To Prepare the Game: Select one of the four available card formats (i.e., not scaffolded, lightly scaffolded, moderately scaffolded, or heavily scaffolded) and cut out the cards along the dotted line. Shuffle the cards very well and place them in a cup or paper bag. (Note: When playing the game as a class, use only one card format at a time.)

To Play the Game:

  1. Students stand in a circle.
  2. With eyes closed, the first student takes a card from the cup or bag. The student reads the card aloud and gives the name of the planet being described on the card.
  3. Use the Answer Key to check the student’s answer. The letter(s) in the bottom left side of the question card should match the letter in the bottom left side of the Answer Key card.
  4. If the student identifies the planet correctly, he/she keeps the card.
  5. If the student does not identify the planet correctly, he/she puts the card back in the cup or bag.
  6. If the student takes a KABOOM! card from the cup or bag, he/she puts back ALL the cards he/she has collected to that point.
  7. Play continues around the circle until the teacher calls “Time!” because otherwise, the game never ends.
  8. The player with the most cards when the teacher calls “Time!” wins.

The card formats below are included in this resource to provide as much differentiation as your students need. Each card set includes 8-16 question cards for each human body system (84 cards total per scaffold level) and 80 KABOOM! cards.

  • Card Set #1: Not Scaffolded (cards include only a question about the human body system)
  • Card Set #2: Lightly Scaffolded (cards include spaces that correspond to the number of letters in the question's answer)
  • Card Set #3: Moderately Scaffolded (cards include a picture of the question's answer)
  • Card Set #4: Heavily Scaffolded (cards include the question's answer, but the letters in the question are scrambled)
  • Answer Key: All cards include a letter (or letters) corresponding to the answers in the Answer Key, making it easy to check students' answers for accuracy.

The following human body systems are included in this KABOOM! game**: nervous system, circulatory system, digestive system, respiratory system, excretory system, skeletal system,** and muscular system.
