This French second language (FSL) resource has activities to encourage conversation on emotions while improving language skills (SEL or l'apprentissage social et émotionnel). This resource allows students to navigate their feelings, discuss personal strengths, and set goals.

In this resource, students will learn to identify a range of emotions which helps foster a deeper understanding of themselves and those around them. The content integrates mindfulness practices, providing practical ways for students to manage and respond to negative emotions positively. This resource encourages students to set and work towards personal goals, creating a foundation for self-improvement and growth.

This resource should be supported by reading books in the classroom regularly to discuss feeling, conflict and conflict resolution. These sheets support conversation, but regular class discussion is key.

French questions interview FSL tout sur moi all about me speaking me voici

Introducing a back to school French Second Language FSL resource to help review basic personal questions with core French students. This is a great way to get to know your students.

Students can interview their classmates to get extra speaking practice. Next they can either write about the classmate (Tout sur ____) or about themselves with several templates to pick from (Tout sur moi!). Finally there are 24 personal basic profiles given with 3 suggested games and activities for more speaking practice with personal questions (i.e. How old are you? What is your favorite pastime?).

In addition to the pre-designed templates, there are blank options which gives more flexibility to stronger classes. There are 22 interview questions included which students can use for support while writing a paragraph. There is a simplified version also included.

This resource works as a low prep review activity or for a substitute plan. These worksheets can be printed and some can also be uploaded to your Google Classroom for seamless digital completion.

Suggested Activities:

First, students conduct a survey on favorite clothing items among their classmates. Next they can channel their inner fashion critic by writing fashion critiques for their favorite celebrities. After students get a budget and they can shop online to make a complete outfit within this budget. Next students will plan a trip by packing a suitcase with different items suitable for each destination or season (Dans ma valise, il y a…). To strengthen their oral proficiency, there are four dialogue templates for students to practice speaking. Finally, students can showcase their own style by using our social media template.

This is a back to school French Second Language FSL art resource to help build a class community with students. Get to know your students as they write about themselves with this low prep activity. Students are also encourage to add color, symbols and sketches to these "Tout sur moi!" or "Me Voici" posters. This resource is great way to decorate your classroom or bulletin board.

-Three puzzle options:

-Individual puzzle (four pieces) "Tout sur moi!" with sentence suggestions for beginner French students - 2 language level options

-Larger piece for more open ended writing/art or an individual heart puzzle

-Bonus mandala bookmark template included for the early finishers.

Bulletin Board Display:

-Class community puzzle display on bulletin board with sign "On est bien ensemble!" Each student designs a unique puzzle piece to add to the class display.

French Halloween vocabulary speaking writing activities basic core French FSL

In this basic Halloween French resource, students can be creative by designing a haunted house, writing a monster bio, or doing a Halloween questionnaire. Enhance your French second language classroom (FSL) with this basic Halloween resource, packed with several activities to get students speaking and writing! These activities encourage them to engage with their peers while applying basic vocabulary and grammar structures in a fun and relevant context.

This low prep resource includes the following:

-Five sheets to practice new vocabulary

-Thirty-six flashcards to support learning (game suggestions)

-A Halloween questionnaire for you and a partner (toujours, souvent, jamais, parfois)

-Two basic skits to practice speaking

-Two options for writing and creating a haunted house

French sports hobbies summer mon aventure projet core FSL loisir end of year

This sports adventure themed French (FSL) resource was designed to encourage speaking and writing. There are engaging templates included which focus on planning a spring/summer adventure. Students respond orally to each question, as they add on to their “adventure” plan. This print and go resource takes the stress out of your week as you review core French vocabulary. This could also work as a step by step substitute plan or end of year activity. Students enjoy being creative as they add artwork and French sentences to their paper bag backpack (templates included and as well as a simple secondary writing assignment).

Included:

- Teacher overview with slides to guide the step by step assignment

-Vocabulary with images and sentence starters

-Three writing project ideas including  a 3D backpack template

Basic Vocabulary:

List of outdoor activities or sports ( Je veux faire)

Limited list choices for location, food and animals (Je veux voir, je veux manger)

Basic personal information (emergency card)

Simple sentence structures to follow

Suggestions for additional categories including clothing and weather

Helpful with backpack template:

Scissors, glue, tape, colored pencils, printed templates and a paper bag for each student

This activity can be done over several classes, by starting your FSL class off each day with a “Question du jour”. Students write down their answers each day to add to their final written project.

French Saint Valentin Reading Comprehension Writing Music FSL February

This Valentine’s Day FSL French reading and writing resource has no prep activities for February. This resource focuses on Valentine’s day themes, but it could be used any day you need a print and go lesson. This resource could be used by a French speaking substitute anytime of year.

There are 2 Nonfiction texts (“The Legend of Saint-Valentine” and  “Love Locks- The Cities do not love them”) with comprehension questions (answer key included). Students may also watch the short film  « La boîte ». There are questions for class discussion or for students to respond independently in writing. 

Students may also become music critics as they listen to a selection of songs curated for February. A template is included to help students share their opinion on the songs.

Included:

- Teacher overview

-Two reading comprehension text. Both available with a slideshow and colored photos or as a printable b/w worksheet.

-Questions for the short film « La boîte » 

-Seven songs to judge and a guide to help students share their opinion on each song

Please carefully look at examples to determine the reading level for your classes. With teacher’s help, the slideshow should work well with a grade 4-8 immersion class. Printable worksheets are for independent work of more advanced immersion or core French students.

Please note you must have access to Youtube to play the music videos and suggested short film. The links are editable and can be changed as these are not part of the purchased resource.
