Are you looking for math warm-ups to engage and challenge your gifted and talented students? These Which One Doesn't Belong warm-ups are a perfect way to increase critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and math vocabulary.

Students will determine which number is unlike the others. There are no wrong answers as long as the reason can be explained with mathematical vocabulary. Students will then be challenged to come up with a reason why each decimal could be different.

Twelve different number puzzles include concepts such as odd and even, sequential numbers, prime and composite numbers, factors, place value, and perfect squares.

This is a low-floor, high-ceiling activity. All students can participate by using terms and concepts that they understand.

Answer possibilities are included for each number so that you can help guide students.

When students understand how they work, they can use the included template and rubric to create their own Which One Doesn't Belong problem to challenge their classmates.
