The posters look great as a display in the classroom and the cards are a brilliant introduction to Ancient Rome. The displays and cards come both with dates and without dates, so the students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline. The cards look even better when laminated.

Then, there is an informational text writing unit about Ancient Rome. The unit focuses on key facts about the history of the ancient civilization that dated from the founding of the city of Rome in the 8th Century BC, until its downfall in the 5th Century AD. Ten biography projects about the lives and legacies of ten key figures from Ancient History. The individual units focus on the following famous people:

The first lessons in each unit are interactive and involve students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lessons, students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lessons, children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusions. In the final lessons, students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to their neat copies on the templates provided.

Firstly, there are six reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

Also, there is an opinion writing unit about who was the most influential figure from the history of India: Ashoka the Great, Siddhartha Gautama or the more recent - Mahatma Gandhi. This unit has again been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Finally, there is an Ancient India Timeline Activity and Display. It is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events and people of Ancient India. There are 30 posters or task cards that include many of the key events from the beginning of the first settlements.
