"Lost in the Forest" is an engaging digital resource designed for elementary students to apply their knowledge of light and sound in a fun and adventurous way. In this imaginary situation, students find themselves lost in the forest and must use light and sound items to communicate for help. They will encounter challenges requiring them to think critically and creatively to solve problems using light and sound.

Through this interactive experience, students will develop their critical thinking skills as they develop strategies for communication. They will also apply their knowledge of the properties of light and sound and how they can be used for communication in different ways. This digital resource is an excellent way to engage students in learning and help them to develop essential problem-solving skills that will serve them well in all areas of their education and beyond.

This product is best used with first and second-graders who are learning about sound and light. It can be used as a whole class activity or as a reflection assessment on critical thinking and knowledge of sound and light.

Get students thinking about test taking tips and strategies for being successful on that important day! This 20 page, critical thinking, emotional intelligence handout packet comes with boy and girl images, and it includes: --no facial expressions so students can fill these in --coloring images --emotional intelligence questions such as: eating a good breakfast and plan your menu be on time find a comfortable chair and desk stress meter following directions pace yourself don't rush (acrostic poem) stay focused check your answers find something fun to do after the test Students practice listing, peer group cooperative activity, fill in answers, etc... Great way to reinforce being mentally and physically ready for Testing Day!

This activity should accompany Ellen Raskin's book The Westing Game. Check your students' reading comprehension by assigning them one of 16 character cards. Students will ask each other questions in order to determine the character card that five of their classmates have. Students will have to know the characters in the book in order to ask and answer useful questions. This activity allows students to get up and moving! The resource includes a worksheet for students to complete as they ask questions along with a reflection once the activity is complete. There is a slide presentation with instructions and 16 character cards to print, cut, and hand out to students.

This is a bundle of two resources focused on Ellen Raskin's book The Westing Game. The first resource is a movement-focused comprehension activity in which students are assigned character cards and have to ask each other yes/no questions in order to figure out their classmates' characters. The second resource is a creative writing activity that student can complete right before they finish the book. Students should stop reading at the start of chapter 24 and write their own ending to the book.
