Tomboy by Liz Prince Socratic Seminar 2 booklets + rubric! Final Assessment
By The Red-Haired Reader
Are you looking for a student-led, interactive way to asses your students' understanding of the graphic novel Tomboy by Liz Prince? A Socratic Seminar is a fabulous way to facilitate a discussion about this award-winning text.
This file contains two different packets of Socratic Seminar packets- packet A and packet B. Each packet contains three different discussion questions that require students to answer and provide two quotes from the text to back up their answers. Students are also required to come up with three additional questions they will ask if there’s time in their seminar. Finally, the packet has a page where each student will monitor a partner in the opposite circle. They will make a check each time their partner speaks, and paraphrase meaningful comments their partner makes. The file also contains a rubric for you to use while your students are discussing!
When you print out the file, you’ll see packet A on the top half of the sheet, packet B on the bottom half, and then the rubric as the last page of the file. Remove the rubric and print one out for each of your students. Copy the rest of the pages, cut them in half, and staple them. Each student will receive one half-sheet booklet; packet A or packet B.
Give your students adequate time to plan for their Seminar! I usually give them a full class period (40 minutes for me), but you could have them do it for homework, or over the course of a few days. The day of the Seminar, you’ll assign partners with opposite packets. Let A discuss for as long as they need (usually 30-ish minutes for me!), then flip-flop your circles and have B discuss afterwards.
My students LOVE Socratic Seminars! I have found the fishbowl discussion format works much better when you give each group three different questions so you don’t hear the same discussion two times, which is how this product is set up. I have used Socratic Seminars in small literature circle groups as well as with the whole class at once. Please ask if you have questions!
Stations Tenses and Preterite vs Imperfect Active Tasks
By ARIANA PEREZ
Instructions:
Teachers: Paste slides 1-14
Around your classroom and have student's fill-in the blank.
These images are basic images for students to use repeated times as they learn new verbs. I would print and laminate these and use them as stations along with the Stations Doc for students.
Preterite vs. Imperfect Activity
For this activity it is more specific of what is required of students to complete. Students should walk around with their packet and fill-it along as they walk around the classroom. For this activity there are 19 stations that need to go on the wall. The last number which is number 20 should be completed in their desks.
You can start numbers on different stations so, that it does not get crowded.

Beatitudes Bible Walk Activity: Discussion, Mini-Posters, & Write the Room
By Catholic Kids
This beatitudes activity is ready to print and used! Students will analyze the beatitudes, deepen their understanding of the meaning, and create mini-posters to show their knowledge.
Instructions
•Print pages that include the beatitudes in FOUR different bible translations and hang up around the room.
•Students read the individual posters and discuss with partners or small groups. The various translations help students understand the meaning of the beatitudes. Translations used are NRSVCE, CEV, MSG, and ICB. These translations were chosen to guide students from the more traditional format of the beatitudes (Blessed are...) to versions that are more contemporary and include more common classes (You will be blessed or will be happy).
•Students take notes on the beatitudes using a graphic organizer.
•Students create a poster demonstrating an understanding of the beatitudes on a honey-comb mini-poster.
•Discussion prompts are also included that will guide students to analyze the beatitudes and notice synonyms and idioms that are present throughout different translations.
This download includes...
-Instruction page
-Matthew 5:1-12 on posters: seperated into 8 beatitudes as well as an intro and conclusion statement. Each of these is included with 4 translations for analysis.
-Simple graphic organizer for note-taking
-Honey-comb Mini-Poster (because BEE-attitudes is too cute to resist)
