These mixed media Native American Bison projects will inspire your students to explore their creativity and use different materials while doing a cross-curricular lesson that celebrates Native American Heritage Month. This project is designed for upper elementary (3rd-5th grade) students but can be easily adapted for middle school.
This lesson is highly engaging, multi-disciplinary, and contains 4 different projects. Set up stations and let your students choose a project or rotate through and complete them all while learning about contemporary artist John Nieto and the American bison.
This is a fantastic project for Native American Heritage Month (November), but can be used in conjunction with a unit on native animals, artists, or anytime of the year.
