Kindergarten Vocal Music Songs

These songs and poems are perfect for celebrating autumn! This set contains 15 songs and poems about fall, with cute illustrations that can easily be used on a flannel board. (To use the illustrations on a flannel board, just cut them out and attach a piece of felt to the back.)

Flannel boards (or felt boards) are a fabulous method of sharing music and rhythm with children by using visual props along with songs. My collection of songs and poems will help you to use your flannel board to its fullest potential.

Get your class on beat! Included are 6 background tracks with ethnic flair -- tablas, djembes, bongos, and more ethnic percussion from Asia, India, and South America. The 6 tracks are at approximately 120bpm and also have a faster 142bpm just in case you want to get things really moving! (12 tracks total) I use these in my class for Orff, Boomwhacker, Rhythm Sticks, Dancing, Movement, or singing activities. The tracks go for about 2 minutes each and there's about 18 minutes worth of drum music in the ZIP file Have fun!

Use this songtale to sing through what your students have just read about, after you have read the book to them! Using the same melody (with minor modifications due to changing lyrics) that I composed for Little Blue Truck, get your students in the Christmas spirit by reading the book and then singing the songtale. Great way to review musical form as well, since the song is in ABA form. For grades PreK-2. Ukulele chords included to help you accompany.

Using the song I composed for this book, sing and play along with this wonderful story! Discuss the importance and value of friendship and what makes a good friend, then sing this song after you read the story. Have students listen for the different sections to introduce musical form and then add instruments to play during the changing sections. Can also be used to discuss and introduce syncopation with the older grades. Great for students in grades K-2.

Teach the ostinato concept using the musical lullaby extension to this well loved book. I wrote a simple lullaby the children can sing at every page turn. As a follow up activity have the students match the animal sounds with the correct animal. Worksheets can be either copied or assigned digitally through the Easel function. Use the chant or lullaby to help the bear feel better! Chant or sing this extension to the popular book "Bear Feels Sick" by Karma Wilson. Talk to the children prior to starting about what being a caring and good friend means and that friends help each other when they are sick. Then introduce the chant or song to the children and sing after every time that the says the bear feels sick. Use the rhythm chart to decode the rhythms and discover quarter rests. Use the song to listen and decode for the do solfege syllable. Adaptable for PreK-2nd grade.

Use this lesson to have the children comfort the bear that the tooth will come out! Based on this popular book, have the children chant or sing to a bear puppet that it will all be okay. Use the accompanying rhythm and beat charts to differentiate between rhythm and steady beat. Accompanying worksheet should be used to have students notate the rhythms to reinforce their decoding skills. Have the older students in grades 1 and 2 sing the chant on so, mi and la syllables. Use the sung version of the chant to introduce or reinforce the la syllable. Adaptable for grades PreK-2nd grade with worksheets that can be assigned digitally through Easel.

Need a slow tempo lesson using a book? Used up the more popular books? Try this lesson set to the book "Slow Samson" by Bethany Christou.
