Real-Life Math fun! Geometric Series, Compound Interest and Financial Maths II
By Daniel
With this fun activity, students learn valuable real-Life Math lessons.
In this task, (with answer key), students invest $50 at the start of every month and then calculate the value of each $50 at the end of that year. The future value of an annuity like this $50 monthly investment is the real-life application of the sum of a geometric series.
Recurring investments (annuities) is a geometric series. The formula for the sum of a geometric series is therefore also the formula for the future value of an annuity. When students realize this, they never need to try to memorize two formulas. They also make the connection between the 2 sections of mathematics and realize that it is fact the same mathematics.
Arithmetic Sequences, Arithmetic Series, Geometric Sequences, Geometric Series, Compound Interest, Future Value, Present Value, Annuities, Sum of an Arithmetic Series, Sum of a Geometric Series.

Algebra 1 Systems of Equations Review | Two Variable System of Equations Test
By AbsoluteValueMath
This no prep and ready to use 46 question product includes System of Equations Unit Homework, a Unit Review and a Unit Assessment with an answer key! Methods included are Graphing, Substitution and Elimination.
Making reviews and tests that are aligned are so super time consuming! In this product you will find a homework, review and an assessment that are all aligned to each other, as well as to the NYS Common Core Standards. There is also an answer key for all of these products so you don't have to waste your prep making an answer key!
The assessment included gives you an option to print the one that gives students a choice in the directions.
Note: The tests are the SAME 15 questions but the difference is in the directions!
They will choose 2 questions to complete from each of the 4 sections (for a total of 8 questions). This is perfect for students that need extra time on tests. It's also great because research has proven that giving students choice increases engagement and success! You will also get a final answer key sheet for students to write their final answers in one location to make grading even easier so you don't have to flip through each exam to get that initial grade!
Included in this product:
- 16 Question Homework
- 15 Question Review
- 15 Question Test with two sets of directions
- A brief outline that suggests how to structure the Review activity

Real-Life Math fun! Geometric Series, Compound Interest, Financial Maths I

This practical Real-Life Math exercise is perfect, as it shows students the real-World connection!
This fill-in tasks lets students calculate the future value of a $100 investment at the start of every month for one year. The future value of such an annuity of $100 is the real-life application of the sum of a geometric series. Compound Interest is the Real-Life application of Geometric Series.
