Anticipation Guides are excellent tools that can be used before reading to activate students' prior knowledge and build curiosity about a new topic and/or to share ideas about key concepts. Students respond to several statements that challenge or support their preconceived ideas about key concepts as well as their peers’ ideas. The Anticipation Guides can help structure meaningful conversations that reviews what students already know and engages them in critical thinking about the topic they will be exploring. The statements in the Anticipation Guides can spark some great discussions among students!! This Anticipation Guide and Self-Assessment focuses on Anger Management.

You can use an Anticipation Guide:

  • Before/after introducing new material to tap into prior knowledge

ANTICIPATION GUIDES

There is ONE Anticipation Guide that comes in two different variations:

▶️ Variation #1:

Part 1: The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled "AGREE" and "DISAGREE." Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE" based on their perspective.

Part 2: The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.

▶️ Variation #2: This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for "AGREE," "DISAGREE," and "COMMENTS." Students are instructed to read each statement and mark either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE." They are then encouraged to elaborate on their thoughts or ideas regarding each statement in the designated "COMMENTS" column.

SELF-ASSESSMENT

This resource offers ONE Anger Management Self-Assessment, prompting students to reflect on their skills using a rating scale: 2 for 'Always,' 1 for 'Sometimes,' and 0 for 'Never.' Use this tool to monitor progress in managing anger and gain insights into students' skills. It's an effective way for students to track their growth in Anger Management.

This Growth Mindset Character Traits Quotes product includes three character traits quotes posters (in full color and in black-and-white) and three corresponding printable worksheets for student reflections.

This character traits quotes product is a sample of larger character quotes products.

You can use the FULL size character traits quotes resources in a number of ways.

  • Display each quote in the classroom as time allows and discuss one quote at a time.
  • Complete the printables during class, with partners or groups, or send it home for homework.
  • Choose your four favorite quotes and create a “Quote of the Week” activity.
  • Display all the quotes and ask students to vote on the quotes they’d like to explore. Use the corresponding printables.

In most cases, students can complete the printables without any additional resources. Periodically, the students will be asked to discuss the author of the quote (if it is applicable). In these cases, allow students to use reference materials (a computer, for example).

Please note that the top two boxes on each printable ask the students to reflect on the quote and apply it to their own lives. The bottom boxes on each printable are unique questions based on the quote given. These questions are designed to stir thinking and stimulate meaningful discussions related to the quote.

There is ONE Anticipation Guide that comes in two different variations:

Part 1: The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled "AGREE" and "DISAGREE." Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE" based on their perspective.

Part 2: The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.

▶️ Variation #2: This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for "AGREE," "DISAGREE," and "COMMENTS." Students are instructed to read each statement and mark either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE." This resource includes a single Organizational Skills Self-Assessment. Students will use the organizational skills - related statements to reflect on their current organizational habits and identify areas for growth. There is ONE Anticipation Guide that comes in two different variations:

▶️ Variation #1:

Part 1: The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled "AGREE" and "DISAGREE." Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE" based on their perspective.

Part 2: The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.

▶️ Variation #2: This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for "AGREE," "DISAGREE," and "COMMENTS." SELF-ASSESSMENT

This resource includes a single Team Conflicts Self-Assessment. Students will use the team conflicts - related statements to evaluate their ability to effectively navigate and resolve conflicts within group settings. They will score the statements using the following scale: 2 for “Regularly,” 1 for “Occasionally,” and 0 for “Never.” They will use this self-assessment as a tool to help them identify their strengths and areas for improvement in managing and resolving conflicts effectively within team settings. 

This assessment also serves as a valuable tool for initiating conversations about effective conflict resolution strategies, the impact of individual behavior on team dynamics, and the development of skills such as negotiation, empathy, and compromise in group settings.
