This basic ESL English bundle helps to review vocabulary related to describing people, their physical appearance and emotions. There are templates for interviewing a partner, "investigating" one's teacher and more low prep activities.

This ESL resource helps review basic personal questions. This is a great way to get to know your students. Students can interview their classmates to get extra speaking practice. Next they can either write about the classmate (All about ____) or about themselves with several templates to pick from (All about me!). Finally there are 24 personal basic profiles given with 3 suggested games and activities for more speaking practice with personal questions (i.e. How old are you? What is your favorite pastime?).

In addition to the pre-designed templates, there are blank options which gives more flexibility to stronger classes. There are 22 interview questions included which students can use for support while writing a paragraph. There is a simplified version also included.

This basic ESL four corners activity helps to encourage conversation with beginner students while focusing on emotions (Social Emotional Learning). 20 questions games are a fun, effective, NO PREP way to practice forming French questions. Click on individual game links for specific details on each version. This bundle saves you 50%. These games work for any level as they are written in French and English. Want a real challenge for your upper levels or immersion students? Use the French only version!

Included with each game:

Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the game and use it as a whole class activity.

Many of the words may be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they've played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version.

One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word.

The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT

Alternative game play:

To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

• Chasse au Trésor (Scavenger Hunt): Interactive scavenger hunt activity focused on locations. An activity where students complete sentences by finding the matching answer on another card (e.g., "Quand je suis malade, je vais ______"). This helps reinforce their understanding of when and why certain locations are visited.
• Jeu d'évasion- Escape room task cards: This printable task card activity includes 16 questions about locations. Students race to find the final 4-digit answer! Hang the task cards on the wall, place them on desks, or pass them around. Each answer will be decoded and recorded on a student answer sheet. The task cards are broken down into 4 levels with 4 puzzle types (decoders). Use these task cards for a partner escape room activity, SCOOT, scavenger hunt, or stations.
