This resource contains an informational reading passage about adaptations that a cactus makes to survive in the desert. There is also a brief passage about deserts. These articles are in color and black and white. There are also four posters of desert plants in bloom, graphic organizers for students to fill out as they read and do research. Help students predict and classify with this observation journal! Students first learn about the flowering plant life cycle. Then, they label the important parts of a plant. Student then plant one of 4 seeds- sunflower, firecracker, moonflower or marigold. They make predictions on what flower this will become based on the identification pages. Once a week, or whenever the educator feels is fit, the students note any changes, make a prediction on draw an observation. Let the growing begin! Seeds not included :)

This resource is an introduction to natural disasters. It contains five informational reading passages. It was made for the NGSS 3-ESS3-1 and 4-ESS3-2 Earth and Human Activity Standards.

It covers the following natural disasters:

Earthquakes

Floods

Hurricanes

Tornadoes

Volcanoes

The passages were written with third graders in mind, but the information is very interesting and complex and would be useful for upper grades as well.

There is a tips sheet for teachers and two recording sheets for students. One recording sheet is a graphic organizer for students to fill in as they read. The other one asks them to draw and label the natural disaster they have studied.

These are great to use whole group, in small groups, with partners, and even at centers!

There is a bonus mini poster on natural disasters as well.
