Looking for a fun game to get your students speaking French? Use this game to have students practice forming questions and speaking French using vocabulary for Valentine's Day.

Included:

French and English version

French only version

Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the game and do a whole class activity.

This game includes 40 words. Many of the words will be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words.

One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word.

EST-CE QUE…….

… tu es un endroit?

… tu es un objet?

The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT

Alternative game play:

To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

Are you a French teacher looking for an engaging Mardi Gras activity to get your French students to build their communication skills and vocabulary? Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

All of the words on each card are written in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students whether they are beginners or very advanced. Classic French Taboo Games Bundle - 3 Versions

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

These 30 questions are just right for students who need to practice the PRESENT TENSE, and they are a perfect no prep speaking activity for busy teachers. Each EST-CE QUE question uses the TU form with verbs in the present tense. In addition to regular and irregular -ER, -IR and -RE verbs I've also included many irregular verbs.

In order to avoid OUI and NON answers, each question also includes an interrogative word which is great practice in helping to remember what they mean and where they're placed in the sentence.

This resource is part of my French 1 & 2 curriculum bundle

Since all of the questions are asked in the TU form, all of the answers will be in the first person singular. This is so that students can really focus and get used to using these verbs when talking about themselves and when talking to a friend.

Just cut out the 30 cards, punch holes in the spaces provided and attach the stack of cards with a key ring. It would be a great idea to print on card stock and laminate the cards before punching holes and attaching them. Super easy and no prep for years to come. Both black and white and color versions are included as well as a 2 page print out of the questions if you should decide to use them as a quiz or homework assignment.

Repetition is key in learning a language, and that's why I've created many different versions of these speaking cards. All of the cards ask the same basic questions, but each time in a different tense. My students really appreciate the familiarity of the cards even when learning a new tense.

This is a set of 30 French IMPERFECT vs.PASSÉ COMPOSÉ task cards that you can use in a number of ways with your students. There are three types of task cards (see preview): - Write the verb in parentheses in the imperfect tense - Write the verb in parentheses in the passé composé - Decide which sentence is correct, the one in the imperfect or the one in the PC These cards offer an excellent opportunity to see the many ways in which we can use the passé composé as opposed to the imparfait. There's a nice mixture of common regular and irregular verbs to work with. For the passé composé there are verbs using both avoir and être as helping verb. Students can work with a partner as a cooperative activity and to practice speaking or they can work individually to practice writing. Task cards are a nice alternative to worksheets which can sometimes seem tedious or boring. Just print, cut out and laminate these cards and you're ready to go, no prep for years to come! French Dots and Boxes Game - APPELER - PRESENT TENSE - No prep printable

An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure and pronunciation for the target vocabulary and grammar when teaching present tense APPELER with and without negation. This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools.

Objective: Complete more boxes than your component. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the verbs on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most. Teaching French Halloween vocabulary?  Looking for an engaging way to get your French students to build their communication skills and vocabulary? Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

All of the words on each card are written in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students whether they are beginners or very advanced. Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity or ice breaker with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.

➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out their answers including reasons for their preferences.

➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.

➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.

➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.

This LOW PREP French Grammar and conjugation game about the French verb AVOIR in the present tense is a fun way to encourage your French beginner students to keep up with the grammar they learn. Quel Dommage games add a little competition and fun to grammar. Your students will also practice speaking and pronunciation! The verb avoir is essential to forming a strong base knowledge of French, yet it can be difficult to master without lots of practice and review.

Here's how the QUEL DOMMAGE game works:

STEP 1

• Print the game cards on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out.
• Laminate the cards

STEP 2

• Put all of the game pieces in a box and divide your students into small teams.
• Give each team gets a box of questions and a copy of the answer key.
• Students must replace the underlined words in the sentences with pronouns (for example) and say the sentence correctly. When they are correct, they get to keep their game card. However, when they draw a QUEL DOMMAGE card they have to put all of their game cards back in the box.
• The student with the most game cards at the end is the winner.

Are your students struggling with making sentences using French Halloween vocabulary? Let them revise and have fun with this traditional game!

This is a fun, quick, and easy way to let your students have some fun reviewing the following verbal phrases:

• faire peur à
• se déguiser en
• jouer un tour à
• frapper à la porte de
• avoir peur de
• hanter quelqu'un
• sonner à la porte de
• hurler sur quelqu'un

In order to win, students connect four boxes by speaking complete sentences using the correctly conjugated forms of the verbal phrases listed at the bottom of the game board (see the vocabulary used above) with 60 different costume ideas on the game board. Subject pronouns are listed on the left.

Once 4 boxes have been connected, students can check their work using the answer key provided. If a conjugation mistake has been made, play continues until 4 boxes have been correctly connected. Full instructions are included.

Forming the French subjunctive is the easy part. Learning how and when to use it correctly is when it gets a little tricky for our students. This is an activity on giving advice, suggestions and opinions using the French subjunctive.

Fourteen different situations to which your students will have to respond by either making a suggestion, giving your opinion, or giving advice of some kind.

How to use this resource:

Students will use the provided list of 24 expressions that must be followed by the French subjunctive to help them get started.

3 sample responses are provided for each of the 14 situations (to be used at your discretion, possible responses are provided in the answer section and the original is left open for students to use).
